3 Reasons It's Important To Find Certified Mechanics For Auto Repair Jobs

Finding a mechanic who is both affordable and trustworthy can be difficult for those who are unfamiliar with the industry. However, one of the best ways to ensure that your mechanic is well equipped to handle the task at hand is to ensure that he or she has certifications that demonstrate the requisite expertise. This article is a brief overview of why it is important that auto body repairs and other fixes are handled by certified mechanics.

Extensive Experience

Auto mechanics that possess certifications in territories like Toronto or Ontario must demonstrate that they have worked a significant number of hours in the auto repair industry before receiving any certification. For standard certifications, the requisite number of working hours in the field is 6,000, which, if the individual works full-time for 40 hours per week, is between two and three years of experience. In addition to the minimum number of working hours in the industry, candidates must also train for an additional 200–300 hours learning the skills characteristic of the certification.

Stringent Admission Requirements

While just about anyone can decide they have what it takes to become a mechanic and go into business for themselves, candidates to certification programs must satisfy a number of requirements prior to acceptance. Those seeking certifications must demonstrate that they have previously passed a variety of English and mathematics classes to ensure that they are prepared for the course load of the program. Finally, before being granted admission to the program, most candidates are generally required to complete an interview with one of the program's instructors. This process filters out candidates who aren't really serious about furthering their technical knowledge, ensuring that mechanics that possess such certifications are the best in the industry.

Comprehensive Training

Candidates for auto repair certifications are trained in a wide variety of areas. In fact, the breadth of coverage is quite impressive, considering students are required to learn repair techniques related to safety practices, fuel systems, and ignition and steering systems. They are also trained to troubleshoot and repair alignment issues, emission control systems and drive lines, and electrical and electronic components.

As well, candidates are instructed in fundamental repair methods relating to the vehicle's suspension and power train, while also learning the theoretical aspects of internal combustion engines and diagnostic procedures. In all, a technician that has been thoroughly trained with regards to so many different aspects of an automobile can deliver repair services that are above and beyond what less educated mechanics can provide.

While there are other benefits to enlisting the assistance of a certified auto repair technician, such as Bare's Paint & Bodyworks, the experience and training candidates receive during certification is what ultimately sets them apart from the rest.

About Me

Keeping My Car Gorgeous

When I was 16, I felt like I won the lottery when my dad bought me a car. Year after year I have looked after that car carefully by washing, waxing, and detailing the exterior. However, this past year I realized that the car was starting to show some signs of aging. Some of the paint was peeling, and I could tell that it needed to be completely repainted. I turned to a professional auto body shop to help me to add a brand new pop of color. When my car was finished, it looked like a brand new ride. Read this blog to learn how a little paint could help your car.
